Francis Bacon 's portrait of his friend Lucian Freud is the most expensive artwork ever sold at an auction.
The 1969 Triptych was sold for $142.4 million on tuesday, November 12th, at Christie's New York, breaking the record set by Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' which was sold for $120 million at Sotheby's last year.
