PRADA MARFA

Built in 2005 by artists Elmgreen and Dragset and situated in a remote highway in Texas. Prada Marfa is a full-size model of a Prada store complete with shoes and handbags provided by Miuccia Prada. The sculpture was financed by the Art Production Fund (APF) and Ballroom Marfa, a center of contemporary art and culture.
The installation was constructed with the intention not to repair it once completed, allowing the building to gradually degrade into landscape.

In 2013, after almost a year of negotiations for it's removal by the Texas Department of Transportation claiming it as "illegal advert", the Prada Marfa installation will remain a permanent fixture off the road 90 highway and will be classified as a museum.
